Aaron Appel is Senior Managing Director, Capital Markets, and Co-Head of Institutional Advisory at Walker & Dunlop in New York, where he arranges debt and equity financing across every commercial asset class. He has originated more than $100 billion over his career and has been named one of the fifty most powerful people in commercial real estate finance by the Commercial Observer every year since 2015.
Before Walker & Dunlop, Appel was Vice Chairman and head of JLL's New York debt and equity capital markets practice, then co-founded AKS Capital Partners, which grew into one of the country's highest-producing capital markets advisory firms before Walker & Dunlop acquired it in January 2020. He now co-leads the firm's New York capital markets team, originating debt at a national scale measured in the tens of billions annually.
